About the Garden

Follow a narrow, winding road through tropical forests, past waterfalls, and across lush mountain passes, and there you’ll find Brunswick Garden. At about 4000 feet above sea level, this scenic estate yields high-grown teas. Brunswick is located in the highest region in Sri Lanka where temperatures range between 63 and 68 degrees. Harvesting is directed by monsoon season, when 80 to 100 inches of drenching rains fall per year, with the highest usually in January–February and July–August. Tea pluckers are busiest during the seasons prior to these rains, from April to June and November to January.

Near Brunswick Garden, you’ll see the All Saints Church Maskeliya - a quaint Anglican church with beautiful stained glass and pews made of oak. The factory at Brunswick Garden was built in 1911 and has undergone numerous improvements since its inception.

Currently, Brunswick Garden is home to approximately 2,000 unionized workers—with housing, daycare and other benefits provided.
